Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School is excited to introduce you to the newest members of our wholehearted faculty and staff.
Our music department is growing with the addition of Collin Chu. Mr. Chu will collaborate with Ms. Van Overen and Mr. Higgins to assist with teaching both Lower School and Middle School students this year. Mr. Chu has a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Minor in Education. He also earned a Master of Arts in Music Education in Film and Video Game Scoring. He holds a California Teaching Credential Single Subject in Music from Cal State University East Bay. Prior to coming to Saint Andrew's, he taught music to PreK-5th graders and has worked with college students remotely teaching the history of jazz and its evolution. He has created activities with the Orff-Schulwerk approach and has set up a choir to enhance the meaning of music. He loves playing, cooking, and traveling.
LeAnne Devol is joining Saint Andrew’s as a part-time Learning Specialist. Ms. Devol earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art from the University of North Carolina, Asheville. She earned her Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of the Pacific. Ms. Devol also holds a Crosscultural, Language, and Academic Development (CLAD) Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Ms. Devol will be working with Mrs. Ramos to provide educational support, life skill coaching, and social emotional instruction to our students with non-traditional learning styles. When not teaching, you might find her practicing/teaching yoga, learning to surf, exploring nature with her family, or on the dance floor at a live music venue. She is currently enjoying the podcast, “Dolly Parton’s America.”
Our new school registrar, and my assistant for the 2020-2021 year, is Natalie Hansen. This position is responsible for a wide variety of tasks including managing all of the student records from admission through graduation. Ms. Hansen brings nearly 10 years of nonprofit and for-profit administrative experience to this vital front office position. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art from San Jose State with a specialization in life drawing and ceramics. She has coached and participated in a wide variety of youth sports leagues including softball, cheer, dance, and gymnastics. She also enjoys volunteering for her son’s school. Ms. Hansens’ favorite book is “The Alchemist.”
Chalesea Schuler is joining Saint Andrew’s as our new Pre-Kindergarten-Grade 8 Math Specialist and Middle School Math Teacher. Ms. Schuler comes to us from the San José Unified School District where she has been a Middle School Math Teacher and Instructional Coach. Ms. Schuler has also been a Math Instructional Coach and Dean of Faculty at Breakthrough Silicon Valley, a non-profit organization that promotes college access for students with limited educational opportunities. Ms. Schuler holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies (emphasis in Math & Psychology) and Sociology from the University of California Riverside as well as a Master of Arts in Education with Single Subject Teaching Credentials in Math, Psychology, & Sociology from the University of California Berkeley. Ms. Schuler also holds a California Preliminary Administrative Services Credential, National Board Certification in Early Adolescence Math, and is currently completing a Doctor of Education in Organization and Leadership from the University of San Francisco. She credits her middle school algebra teacher and high school calculus teacher for inspiring her teaching career. When she’s not solving equations, she loves to snowboard and play volleyball.
Lynne Schroh joins Joelle Strickland to complete our first grade team this year. She was inspired to pursue a career in education by her father. He was a teacher and administrator at Morris High School in the Bronx. As she grew up, she and her sister would spend time with him during and breaks and would sit in on classes and spend time with him, his students, and colleagues. Mrs. Schroh holds a Master of Arts in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from New York University, New York, NY. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Social Studies Education from the State University of New York, College at Buffalo. She recently taught Kindergarten and First Grade in a school much like Saint Andrew’s in New York. Mrs. Schroh is trained in Responsive Classroom and took part in the Teachers College Reading & Writing Project Summer Reading Institute. She was recently awarded the Distinguished Faculty Award at Tuxedo Park School. She and her family are very excited about our move from New York to California. They are looking forward to exploring and learning more about our local history. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and yoga.
Keely Sullivan is excited to join Saint Andrew’s as a second grade teacher. She describes herself as one of those kids who always wanted to be a teacher. She would play "teacher" in her room with her dolls and give her little sister and her friends homework from old class workbooks that she would save. Mrs. Sullivan attended the University of Colorado, Boulder where she earned Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Instruction and Curriculum. She holds a Certificate for English Language Acquisition from Regis University and has teaching credentials in both Colorado and California. She and her family enjoy camping and being outdoors. She loves to stay active whether it's running, hiking, yoga, or dancing.
Finally, Tabitha Veyna has joined Saint Andrew’s as Assistant to our Division Heads and Admission Assistant. Ms. Veyna attended Presentation High School, West Valley College, and is a graduate of San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development. She is an active community volunteer and her hobbies include yoga, running, hiking, and trying new restaurants! She enjoys reading; recent favorites include “Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be” and “Becoming.” Ms. Veyna is a fan of horror/suspense films, but also counts “Father of the Bride”, “Coneheads”, Toy Story, and This is 40 among her favorites.
